A ground-floor unit has damp flooring
Give the floor and unit location and any accessible meter information. A damp floor alone does not locate a pressurized pipe leak.
Ground-floor position does not identify the pipe
Damp flooring in a ground-floor unit may raise an underfloor concern, but the floor position is only context. Give the unit details and the documented meter arrangement where available. The assessment still needs evidence connecting moisture to a household or shared line instead of an adjacent water path.
Ask whether the proposed scope reaches the source
Clarify which pipe segment can be assessed from the unit and whether management-controlled access is required. If the test only narrows an area, the report should say so before flooring is removed. The owner’s permission for an opening and the authority to repair a shared pipe may be separate approvals.
Distinguish the source before planning access
Ask whether the test distinguishes water below the surface from an adjacent or shared pipe source. Detection, pipe repair and floor restoration can involve separate scope items.
