Pooling remains after the zone shuts off
Note how long the wet spot remains and whether another supply is operating. Landscape wetness can involve a line, valve or sprinkler component.
Persistent water is different from the end of a cycle
Record when the zone last ran and when pooling was still visible, using observations already available from a safe position. Continued wetness deserves assessment, but it does not by itself identify a broken buried line. Another active supply or a component continuing to pass water may be relevant.
Ask whether continued flow or retained water was found
That distinction helps connect the symptom to the proposed component repair. A valve that does not close and a damaged pipe are different findings, even if both leave a wet area. Request the identified component and any access need before replacement, rather than approving excavation solely because pooling remains after watering.
Identify the irrigation zone and supply
Ask whether testing targets the line, a valve or a component without digging to find out yourself. The zone, supply type and watering cycle help define testing.
