A stain is close to altered interior pipework
Keep the renovation scope and the stain timeline together. A stain shows where water appeared, not necessarily its origin.
A renovation date does not assign the cause
Moisture beside altered pipework deserves a careful timeline. Preserve the earlier scope, the first stain date and the affected fixture information without concluding that the recent work caused the leak. A nearby alteration can be relevant while a drain connection or a different water path remains possible.
Request a finding before corrective work
Ask which portion of the altered installation is implicated and what evidence supports that conclusion. If another section is responsible, the proposal should identify it instead. An interior access opening and repair of the finish should be separately understandable, especially where the earlier contractor and the investigating party have different responsibilities.
Locate the leak before repairing finishes
Ask whether the altered section is actually implicated and whether restoration is separate from the pipe repair. Detection, pipe work and restoration can need separate authorizations.
