State whether the mark is on a private interior wall, a shared boundary or a ceiling beneath another space. That detail helps the manager identify who can permit investigation. It does not establish which side contains the fault, and the visible stain may be separated from the actual source.
Link an opening to a source question
Ask what evidence supports the proposed opening and which adjoining space still needs access. If the source remains unconfirmed, retain that uncertainty in the work description. A finish repair on one side of a boundary should not be treated as proof that an unassessed pipe or room on the other side is sound.
Locate the leak before repairing finishes
Ask which records and access permissions are needed to locate the source before assigning responsibility. Detection, pipe work and restoration can need separate authorizations.
