An unnamed line is an incomplete repair scope
If a quote does not identify the supply endpoints, ask which section it intends to repair and how that section was implicated. A general reference to the main line can obscure utility-side exclusions, branches or an unlocated route. The visible wet position is not an adequate substitute for those boundaries.
Resolve limits before excavation approval
Confirm the customer-side responsibility, access area and proposed buried utility arrangements with the relevant parties. If locating remains necessary, make it separate from a confirmed repair recommendation. Reinstatement should also refer to the defined disturbed area, so the owner understands what the accepted line work and its exclusions actually cover.
