Testing needs entry to a locked service space
Tell the recipient which spaces can be accessed and by whom. Thermal imaging records surface temperature, not water inside walls.
A locked room may hold a missing part of the question
Explain why a service space may matter and who can provide authorized entry. Accessible surfaces can yield observations, but they cannot establish the condition of every hidden or locked component. A thermal image from outside that space is not permission or proof to attribute the source within it.
Know whether the result is preliminary
Ask which part of the suspected route was assessed and what the unavailable access leaves unresolved. Acoustic evidence also needs relevant pipe access and conditions. If a second authorized visit is necessary, have that stated as a dependency rather than treating a limited survey as a complete source diagnosis.
What the chosen detection method establishes
Ask what acoustic or thermal investigation can establish without the unavailable space and what follow-up is needed. Acoustic findings depend on conditions and need corroborating evidence.
