The meter changes but the floor is only slightly damp
Keep both observations without assuming they share a source. A damp floor alone does not locate a pressurized pipe leak.
Two clues may concern two different problems
Meter movement and slight floor dampness should both be reported, but neither proves they share a source. Intended water use or an unrelated fixture leak may explain the reading while the floor needs a separate moisture inquiry. Avoid turning a small visible mark into a confirmed slab leak solely because the meter changed.
Ask for the connection before authorizing access
The findings should explain what links the implicated line to the affected floor and what alternative water use was considered. If the connection is unconfirmed, keep locating work distinct from slab repair. The opening location and reinstatement scope should follow a source-based reason rather than two coincident observations.
Distinguish the source before planning access
Ask how the assessment connects actual line evidence to the damp area before a slab opening is proposed. Detection, pipe repair and floor restoration can involve separate scope items.
